Our Story: Rooted in Love, Guided by Community
Ihkapaskwa Collective was founded by three Indigenous birthworkers who spent years working inside a healthcare system that was never built for us — a system that continues to fail Indigenous families through systemic racism, forced evacuations, and a denial of our traditional ways of care.
We saw the harm firsthand.
We saw families separated, traditions dismissed, and barriers placed between our people and their right to safe, dignified, culturally grounded care.
Along came Ihkapaskwa Collective. Led by Indigenous knowledge, fueled by advocacy, and grounded in the love and resilience of our communities, we created a place where care is not a service — it is a right, a ceremony, and a reclamation.
Through Aunties Within Reach and our outreach clinics, we offer wraparound support, reproductive health care, education, and fierce advocacy for Indigenous families across our territories.
We are here to rebuild what colonialism tried to erase:
our autonomy, our ceremonies of care, and our rightful place at the center of our own healing.
